Sweet Summer Recipes for Dehydrated Strawberries and Peaches

Beyond fireworks and family vacation, two of the best things about summer are strawberries and peaches. Between the two of them, strawberries and peaches cover the whole summer with strawberries peaking in early summer (usually April to June) and peaches coming into season later (around July to August).

But just because the season doesn’t last the whole year doesn’t mean your enjoyment of strawberries and peaches can’t: dehydrating them now will provide you with a sweet treat even when the last peach is plucked!

We’ve compiled a list of different ways to indulge in dehydrated strawberries and peaches below to keep your summertime feeling all year long.

The first step in any of these recipes is the same: dehydrating your fruit. Once you’ve washed your strawberries or peaches, slice them into thin cuts and lay them on your dehydrator shelves to dry for 6-8 hours in the sun. The finished slices should feel dry and a little bit chewy, like fruit leather.

Naturally, you can stop there and enjoy your dried strawberries or peaches as-is. With a lower water content, the natural sugars and flavor of peaches and strawberries will be a little more concentrated than in fresh fruit and will make for an extra sweet treat!

If you want to save your dried fruit, be sure to place it in an airtight container and keep it in a cool, dry place such as a pantry to ensure it doesn’t spoil. Saving some of the dried fruit for later will give you the opportunity to test out some of the delightful recipes below:
